The 5th Annual Dr. Gary DuGan Memorial 5K/Walk will take place Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the Beaver Meadow Walkway in DuBois. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Graduate Medical Education Program at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Dr. Gary DuGan was the medical director for Penn Highlands Healthcare, a respected doctor, family man and a key supporter, in beginning the first residency program at Penn Highlands DuBois. He was an avid fisherman, a Philadelphia Eagles fan and an avid Penn State Wrestling devotee. Dr. DuGan's best friend in life, was his dog NimZ (whose name represents the initials of his beloved children.)
Since his passing in 2017, the Graduate Medical Education Program at Penn Highlands DuBois has grown, fulfilling Dr. DuGan's vision, to educate and train medical professionals within the healthcare system.
This past June, the Penn Highlands DuBois Graduate Medical Educatation Program (GME) graduated its fourth class of residents. To date, the Family Medicine Residency program has had 19 graduates, with five in the 2023 class. Exciting news this year, the first physician to participate in the Sports Medicine Fellowship completed the program this year!
ABOUT THE RACE:
Live Race Participants: Registration begins Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 7:30 a.m. with a race start time of 9:00 a.m. at the DuBois City Park, Edward V. Cherry Amphitheater. The race will be run on the Beaver Meadow Walkway.
Virtual Participants: Registered participants can begin running this virtual race event, on September 1, 2023 at 12:00AM through September 16, 2023 at 11:59PM. All registrants must run their virtual race by 11:59PM on September 16, 2023. After that, time submissions will no longer be posted to the results.
